I know some men would rather pay a prostitute or any other woman rather than the mother of their children who would only use the money on their children and family. I believe any men paying other women or prostitutes tie weights around their own necks. On the Day of Judgement these weights will weigh them down in Hell. Good luck to such men on the Day of Judgement.

Jab aurtain Nikaah par Haq e Mahr batayein to kahain kay vo har haftay Haq e Mahr laina chahti hain. Haq e Mahr aurtoon ka haq hay. Aur kahain kay yay raqam zyada ho sakti hay cost of living kay saath.
I would also recommend that when women announce their Haq e Mahr during Nikaah (Islamic marriage). They should announce a weekly amount the man should pay to her for the rest of his life. She should also announce that the weekly amount would increase with the cost of living.
